About Debbie

My name is Deborah Nash. However, I prefer the more casual names of either Debbie or Deb.  After nearly 20 years, I have re-opened my consulting business, helping local businesses and organizations expand by providing web site, computer, business process improvement and technology related services.

I hold a General Studies degree specializing in Safety Education and Training from the University of Maryland. I earned my Master of Science degree specializing in Management Information Systems from University of Maryland, University College.

I have spent over 20 years pursuing my passion of technology in various roles involving computer training, project management, course development, process improvement and customer service.

My first technology-related job was as the Assistant Transportation Planner for Montgomery County Public Schools. We launched the county's first computerized bus routing system in the late 80's. I was involved with the life cycle development, project implementation and employee training. Our biggest challenge on the project was to ensure the successful adaptation of the new technology within our transportation organization.

Since that position, I've worked in the software and technology sector. I spent several years as a Sales Associate with one of the pioneer software retailers of the 80's – Egghead Discount Software. In addition to working sales, I started my own computer consulting company. I was able to expand my knowledge of the newly emerging personal computer market. As a consultant, I provided a variety of services including database design and development, one-on-one and small group training as well as computer repair and installation services.

In 1995, I took a job with Icarus Corporation, an engineering software company. I learned complex engineering software, provided technical support, developed training materials, conducted training workshops, handled database administration and performed product/project management for the software we developed and supported. In 2000, Icarus Corporation was acquired by Aspen Technology. I had significant opportunities to expand my career as a result of this acquisition.

I spent 11 years in a variety of roles with this company, including Technical Support and Training Consultant; Manager of Technical Support; Manager of Icarus Support and Training; and Support Operations Process Manager. As project manager, I lead numerous projects within our organization. One of the most important projects I managed was leading our Global Support and Training organization through several, rigorous Support Center Practices (renamed: Service Capability & Performance) audits, achieving certification and industry recognition. I am also a Certified Support Manager (CSM).

I left Aspen Technology in 2006 to take on the role of Senior Project/Product Manager with a start-up internet-based software company, BDMetrics. I spent two and a half incredible years running projects in a rapid-development environment, with our internet releases scheduled every 4-8 weeks. During my tenure at BDMetrics, I learned about web design, web development, social networking techniques, search engine optimization plus more.

As a result of my career experiences with BDMetrics, my passion for computer technology, business management, project management, operational process improvements and the field of customer service continued to grow. Each of these areas required my use of communication, leadership, scheduling, teamwork, technology and training skills.

Now, I've come full circle, reopening my consulting business.  My primary focus: helping my customers grow their businesses - be it through launching a web site, business process re-engineering, software product knowledge training, employee soft skill training or general business advice.  My rates are reasonable; my knowledge is deep.

On a personal note, I am a geek at heart, a speed reader, a shutter-bug by hobby, an avid scrapbooker, an animal lover  and an outdoor enthusiast - mountain biking, hiking, walking and kayaking are among my favorite activities.  When not working, one might find me in Hancock, MD biking the Western Maryland Rail Trail, hiking the local mountains (Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area or Cacapon State Park) or swimming my dogs in the Cacapon River.

I look forward to the opportunity to help you grow your business!

Debbie
